Abstract
1322565 Photographic bleach-fix baths EASTMAN KODAK CO 30 Oct 1970 [3 Nov 1969] 51754/70 Heading G2C A photographic bleach-fix composition free from alkali metal ions contains (i) a silver bleaching agent having an ammonium or amine cation and an anion comprising Fe<SP>III</SP>, Co<SP>III</SP> or Cu<SP>II</SP> complexed with a polyfunctional ligand, e.g. ammonium ethylenedinitrilotetraacetato ferrate (III), (ii) an amine or ammonium thiosulphate, (iii) an amine or ammonium salt which provides sulphite ions in aqueous solution, e.g. ammonium sulphite or matabisulphite, and optionally (iv) a salt having an amine or ammonium cation and an anion comprising an uncomplexed polyfunctional ligand, e.g. tetraammonium ethylenedinitrilotetraacetate. The composition may be in the form of a working- strength bath, a dry mixture, a concentrated solution or a two-part concentrated solution, one part containing components (i) and (iv) above, and the other part components (ii) and (iii). A number of alternative amine cations and polyfunctional ligands is listed and bleaching agents other than the one specified above are disclosed.
