Abstract

A hermetically closing safety door capable of opening in two directions, in particular a fire-retarding door for cable rooms, has a door surface suspended from the door frame by means of hinges that ensure a three-point suspension. A hand-operated lock arranged on the door frame locks the door surface, heat insulating material is incorporated into the door surface and the gap between the door frame and the door surface is sealed. The disclosed door has two leaves (2, 3) that open in opposite directions. The larger leaf (2) is suspended by means of hinges (5) from a door frame (1) built into the wall, whereas the smaller leaf (3) is fixed by hinges (5) to a frame (7) formed in the larger leaf (2). The leaves (2, 3) are secured to each other and to the door frame (1) by means of closure means (6) that can be closed by hand and the leaves (2, 3) are provided on their face opposite to their opening direction with sealing edges (4).
