Abstract
Method for reducing adverse reactions in an animal being treated with insecticide for parasitic infestation, or for protection from it, comprising topical application of a dry formulation of organophosphate insecticide (OPI) to the animal, is new. The OPI is preferably in the form of microcapsules containing a high concentration (20-80%, most preferably 70-75%) of OPI, applied to a small area of the fur or skin, to provide controlled release for 1 to 2 weeks. The insecticide comprises pirimiphos-methyl.
