Abstract

The invention relates to the production of plaster elements having decorative visible faces of high surface quality, widely used in the construction industry. The plaster elements can be made in various configurations, in a single colour or marbled. This is achieved according to the invention by a method in which a multi-layer moulding material consisting of a water/plaster mixture and dried plaster powder is covered in a mould with a hygroscopic and/or open-cell material of low compressibility and then water-compacted by pressure elements with simultaneous removal of air and subsequently compressed with the exclusion of air. A positive pressure is built up in the moulding material and the material covering it and this is maintained at least in part until dimensional stability of the plaster element has been attained. The plaster element is then released with the aid of the pressure elements. The device according to the invention is distinguished by the fact that an upper part is designed as a holder with pressure elements articulated on it on the top and bottom. The lower part for holding the moulding material comprises a dimensionally stable frame with an integrated separating frame and is supported in airtight fashion on the mould bottom. The upper part and lower part can be locked together airtightly via a seal. <IMAGE>
