Description
A találmány tárgya elektrokémiai eljárás és berendezés gázok vizgőztartalma parciális nyomásának meghatározására.The present invention relates to an electrochemical method and apparatus for determining the partial pressure of water vapor in gases.
A method for determining the partial pressure of the water vapor content of gases is known (see U.S. Patent No. 2.8J0.945), in which the gas to be analyzed is passed through a specially designed electrochemical cell. In this process, the water vapor of the gas sample is absorbed in a highly hygroscopic solution and is then electromechanically decomposed to oxygen and hydrogen. The mass flow rate for the gas to be analyzed is kept constant. The partial pressure of the water vapor is calculated according to the Faraday law based on the mass flow of gas through the cell. The known method can only be used to determine the very low partial pressure of water vapor in gases. The analysis can be performed continuously and fully automated.
One disadvantage of the above process is that the mass flow rate of the gas to be analyzed through the electrochemical cell must be kept constant, irrespective of the type and temperature of the gas. The minimum amount of gas required for each analysis is significant. Special equipment is required to maintain and control the flow of gas.
A device known in the art for electrochemical determination of the partial pressure of water vapor in gases is known, which has a max. It is equipped with a special arrangement of electrochemical cells connected in series to an 80 V DC power supply and a very small aram measuring system. The gas sample flows from a reservoir to a constant mass flow device equipped with a mass flow meter, and the gas sample then enters the electrochemical cell. The cell itself is made of an insulating material, - 800 mm long, with two platinum wires, 0.1 mm in diameter, wrapped parallel to each other in a spiral line. The space between the rolls is filled with a concentrated solution of phosphorus pentoxide 0.1 mm.
Jelentős a cellához szükséges platina mennyisége ia.The known apparatus is very complicated due to the complexity of the procedure to be performed. In addition, the electrochemical cell is very long, which makes it very difficult to produce. The amount of platinum required for the cell is significant ia.
A találmány elé kitűzött feladat olyan eljárás kidolgozása gáz halmazállapotú közegben lévő vizgőz parciális nyomásának meghatározására, amelynél nincs szükség gázcirkulációra, és a, nedvességtartalmat a tér minden helyén meg lehet mérni. A találmány olyan berendezést hoz létre, amelynek működtetése előnyös, előállítása pedig egyszerű.SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the present invention to provide a method for determining the partial pressure of water vapor in a gaseous medium that does not require gas circulation, and the moisture content can be measured at any location in the space. The present invention provides an apparatus which is advantageous in operation and easy to manufacture.
A kitűzött feladatot a találmány szerint olyan, gáz halmazállapotú közegekben lévő vizgcz parciális nyomásának meghatározására vonatkozó eljárás kidolgozásával oldottuk me^, amelynek során a gázt félig áteresztő gázdiffuziós membrán e^yik oldalával érintkezésbe hozzuk. A gáz vizgőztartalma a membránon keresztül végbemenő diffúzió utár erősen higr oszkópikus elektrolitoldatban abszorbeálódik, mely oldat a zárt térben a membrán másik oldalán van elhelyezve. The object of the present invention is solved by the development of a method for determining the partial pressure of water in gaseous media by contacting the gas with one side of a semi-permeable gas diffusion membrane. The water vapor content of the gas, after diffusion through the membrane, is strongly absorbed in a hygroscopic electrolyte solution placed on the opposite side of the membrane in a closed space. Electrochemical decomposition is then carried out on two inert electrodes which are polarized in reverse and contacted with the hygroscopic electrolyte solution. The current flowing through the cell is directly proportional to the partial pressure of the water vapor in the gas being analyzed, as follows from Fick's first law when applied to a diffusion-limited process. Fish products from the electrolysis gas are diffused through the gas diffusion membrane to the amount of gas analyzed.
A gáz halmazállapotú közegek vlzgőztartalma parciális nyomásának meghatározására kifejlesztett berendezés a találmány szerint egy speciális elrendezésű elektrokémiai cellából, egyThe apparatus for determining the partial pressure of the gaseous media, in accordance with the present invention, from a specially arranged electrochemical cell,
It consists of 2-80 V DC power supply · and one current meter. The cell itself consists of a housing in which a porous separator is located. The separator is completely soaked with highly hygroscopic material. Two Siebel electrodes are arranged symmetrically on each side of the separator. Both electrodes are insulated from the ambient atmosphere by one or more semi-permeable gas diffusion membranes with defined gas permeability properties. For cell houses, · gas diffusion membranes are sealed with two O-rings. The porous portions of the gas diffusion membranes have a medium porosity of between 10 and 9 to 10 ”.
An advantage of the process according to the invention is that. neither a constant gas mass flow rate nor a device for monitoring this mass flow is required. The method allows for the analysis of gas samples of a magnitude smaller than the minimum required for the known methods.
Both the operation and construction of the apparatus according to the invention are considerably simpler than known apparatuses. The electrochemical cell, which is the sensor of the apparatus, is easy to produce and very small. The small size of the sensor makes it possible to measure the humidity in all parts of the gas mass. A much smaller mass of inert metal is required to produce the electrodes * than is known in the art. Due to the specially selected construction of the gas diffusion membranes, the cell current varies insignificantly with respect to temperature and the type of gas to be tested.
A találmány szerinti berendezést példakénti kiviteli alak kapcsán, a mellékelt rajz alapján Ismertetjük részletesebben, ahol az 1. ábrán a berendezés metszetben látható.The device according to the invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a sectional view.
A berendezés részei a következők:The equipment consists of:
A 8 tömítőgyűrűk akadályozzák meg a gázok elillanását a membrántartományon kívüli részekről.an electrochemical cell, a 40 V 2 DC power supply and 3 microampmeters connected in series. The electrochemical cell 1 consists of a housing * in which a porous separator 4 is located and the separator 4 is completely impregnated with a concentrated solution of phosphorus pentoxide. The separator 4 is arranged between two Siebel electrodes 5 made of platinum. Both Siebel electrodes 5 are insulated from the ambient atmosphere by two porous gas diffusion membranes 6, 7. The inner gas diffusion membrane 6 has a high gas permeability and good insulation properties. The gas permeability of the outer gas diffusion membrane 7 is selected to be well-defined, which is substantially smaller than the inner gas diffusion membrane 6, so that this membrane limits the diffusion rate of water vapor from the ambient atmosphere to the electrodes. The sealing rings 8 prevent the gases from escaping from outside the membrane region.
A találmányt a bemutatott kiviteli példa kapcsán ismertetjük részletesebben. The invention will be described in more detail with reference to the exemplary embodiment shown.
A vízgőzök parciális nyomásának meghatározásához olyan berendezést alkalmazunk, amely egy elektrokémiai cellából egy 30 V-os stabilizált egyenirányítóból és egy 60 mV-os mérésiTo determine the partial pressure of the water vapor, we use an apparatus consisting of an electrochemical cell, a 30 V stabilized rectifier, and a 60 mV measurement.

Many specimens of this apparatus were tested over a full year in various gas mixtures containing oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, argon, sulfur dioxide, and hydrogen chloride. It was found that there is a linear relationship between the cell current and the partial pressure of the water vapor in the range of 10 to 5 x 10 iv ppm / pair pro million. The lower limit of water vapor concentration, which can be determined with sufficient accuracy, is less than 1 ppm. The hormone dependence of the measurements on the honeysuckle is very small and varies between 0, ΙΟ, 15% / ° C. After one year of experimentation, there was no change in the sensitivity of the equipment.
