Abstract
A parting tool(9), to which a force is applied, is guided along a cutting line(13) between the lens and surface of a tool shell(2,3). The applied force is controlled according to a profile dependent on the angle through which the tool shells(2,3) are rotated. A combination(4) comprising the lens(1) and one or both tool shells is attached to a holder(7) rotating on an axis(5) and has a described angle of rotation(theta ). The height of the parting tool(9) or holder is set at a specific position and a force applied to the parting tool to press against the lens close to the cutting position between lens and tool shell. On rotation of the holder the height of the tool or holder is adjusted according to the angle of rotation and thus the height of the cutting line. The rear tool shell(3) is mounted on the holder and an additional force is applied to the front tool shell(2) or lens to remove the rear tool shell from the lens. Additional pulling force is applied either at the start of the cutting stage or before the lens and tool shell to be separated are completely parted from each other. Independent claims are included for: A) process equipment including: i) a holder(7) rotating around a first axis(5) on which the rear tool(3) is mounted and having angular positions describing the position of a tool shell to be separated; ii) a rotating gripper(8) on a second axis(17) which exerts a force onto the front tool shell(2); iii) a parting tool(9) rotating around a third axis(33) and force producing system(10) which presses the parting tool onto the side of the lens; iv) a motor(6) for rotating the holder or parting tool and another motor(11) for adjusting the height position of parting tool or holder along the first axis; v) a control unit(12) for operation of the second motor to press the parting tool against the lens: B) process equipment with: i) a parting tool(9) comprising a straight parting blade; ii) several holders(7) rotating around an axis on which the rear tool shell is mounted, each with its own motor for setting the height of the holder relative to the parting tool; iii) a linear drive system for moving holders parallel to the parting tool so that lenses roll on the latter; iv) a control unit(12) for individual control of motors for each holder so that the lens height follows the height of the cutting position between lens and tool shell to be separated.
