Abstract

A process is disclosed for identifying high-density, optically readable, disk-shaped information carriers for audio and video signals, such as CD's. Each CD is provided with an individual code by a controlled laser beam. The same code is preferably applied on the CD package as well. This may be done practically at the same time and in the same installation. The code may be a continuous series of numbers, as is usual with bank notes.
