Abstract

In a VHS video recorder recording the luminance signal (Y) with increased bandwidth (S-VHS), the bandwidth of the recorded chrominance signals (U,V) is also to be increased. In the free frequency band (1) below the video carrier (BT), a chrominance signal (U or V) is in each case recorded in accordance with the single-sideband method. This increases the bandwidth of the recorded chrominance signals from about 0.5 MHz to 1.0 MHz. In particular, VHS video recorders with increased image quality (super VHS). <IMAGE>
