Abstract

he constructed laboratory device simulates the movement of an artistic skater having his arms opened while rotating on one leg. The extension of the arms increases the momentum of inertia while the rotation frequency is reduced due to the angular momentum conservation. The movement of the skater has been successfully modelled by the invention. Apart from the experimental demonstration of the angular momentum conservation law, the device with its accessories can be used in laboratory exercises in converting the dynamic energy into kinetic due to rotation, in laboratory exercises measuring the work of the inertia momentum of a flywheel. The device in question is too simple, comprehensible to the trainer and friendly to the trainee; it is ofeconomical construction cost, easy and harmless to use, it is autonomously operating, and it does not demand much time for the preparation of the experiment. The measurements taken during the verification of the angular momentum conservation law andthe calculation of the work of the centripetal force have shown a 4,5% deviation from the theoretical value what makes said angular momentum measuring device an indispensable equipment for the laboratories of physics in second and third grade education institutions.
