Abstract

A pyrotechnic composition for contact with the bridgewire of an exploding bridgewire squib (see Division F3) comprises a finely divided mixture of a metal and lead monoxide. The metal may be aluminium alone or together with magnesium, titanium, or silicon and may be in flake or atomized form. The lead oxide may be replaced in part by ferric oxide. The mixture may be coated with silicone oil, and may also include finely divided polytetrafluoroethylene, polytrifluorochloroethylene, or polyethylene. The composition has a low ignition delay time.
