Abstract

998,270. Applying closure caps. W. PECHMANN. July 24, 1962 [July 26, 1961], No. 28429/62. Heading B8T. Closure caps 20 are applied to bottles 21 by means of a rotatable head 19 which is reciprocable between a position at which the leading cap 22a in a shoot 22 may be pushed by a plunger 24 into the head and a position at which the head is driven downwards on to the bottle neck by pivoting arms 29 while rotated through a friction wheel 15, thereby screwing on the cap. The head 19 is carried on a shaft 16, and these may be arranged in multiple, Fig. 2 (not shown), to pivot about a horizontal shaft 18. One friction wheel 15 drives a pair of shafts 16, the drive being supplied from a motor 10. The shaft 16 may slide vertically downwards with respect to the wheel 15 or the wheel may be arranged to descend with it. The head 19 is lined with elastomeric material.
