Abstract

997,766. Image transfer by means of heat. A.B.DICK CO. Sept. 24,1963 [Oct. 25,1962], No. 37539/63. Drawings to Specification. Heading G2C. A copy of an original which comprises a radiation absorbing-heat generating image pattern comprises, (a) superimposing the original on a transfer sheet comprising a heat softenable dye containing coating, (b) irradiating the original so that the dye coating is transferred in an image pattern on an adjacent master sheet, (c) bringing the master sheet into contact with a copy sheet, (d) heating the assembly to transfer a layer of the dye coating on to the copy sheet. Steps (c), (d) may be repeated until all the dye coating has been removed from the master. The original sheet may be used as the master sheet. The transfer sheet may be heated by direct irradiation or reflectively. The dye coating may comprise an aniline or azo dye in a wax binder. The image on the original may be formed xerographically.
