Abstract
997,721. Tube connections. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. Aug. 23, 1962 [Aug. 25, 1961; June 14, 1962], No. 32410/62. Heading F2G. [Also in Division B3] Boiler and heat exchange tubes may be connected in a fluid-tight manner by a tube expanding process (see Division B3) in which the tube is inserted into a bore having rectangular annular recesses 3 and expanded therein by a known type of roller tool, Fig. 4, a tapered cone 9 causes the rotating rollers to move radially outwardly to effect expansion of the tube in to the grooves. Internal annular projections 16 may be formed on the bore and expanded into the grooves. The metals used, e.g. steel, zircalloy 2 or 18/8 stainless steel, may have the same or different coefficients of expansion.
