Abstract

997,263. Cabinets. W. J. EARREY. June 17, 1964 [April 19, 1963], No. 15597/63. Heading A4B. A wall mounted storage cabinet comprises an outer casing 6 enclosing a pivotable disc or wheel, mounted on a horizontal axis, for supporting articles such as kitchen utensils, one wall of the casing 6 having an aperture closable by a cover and providing access to the cabinet interior. In one embodiment (Figs. 2, 3), the boxlike casing 6 releasably clips over the chamfered ends 5 of diagonal arms 3 secured to a wall, these arms 3 having a central boss 4 on which the hub 10 of a wheel 7 is rotatably mounted. The wheel 7 comprises radial spokes 8 of I-section and two pairs of concentric plastic rings 16, 17 held in apertures in the spokes 8. The intermediate rings 16 are of open channel form and carry slidable slips 19 which may be locked against the side of a saucepan 23. The inner and outer rings 17 have a projecting portion 25 with a sloping face 26 which engages the saucepan rim. The cover for the access aperture may comprise a flap on the front wall of the casing 6. In another embodiment (Fig. 7, 9) a rotary plywood disc 29, having a flanged periphery 31 and radial supporting spokes 30, is provided with arcuate, concentric slots 37 in which clips 38 are secured at selected locations, the head 41 of the clip 38 being threaded on to a body portion 39 having upturned ends 42 which grip the underside of the disc 29 and the clips 38 serving to support a saucepan 43. Arcuate cut-out portions 44 may also be provided in the disc 29 to receive handles of the saucepans 43. In a further embodiment (Fig. 12) the disc 46 comprises hardboard with apertures 47 and a peripheral flange 48, saucepans 52 &c. being gripped at their rims by spring clips 53 selectively located in the apertures 47. The hub 32 is offset from the cabinet centre to provide storage space on the inclined bottom wall of the cover 6. In a modification a resilient synthetic plastics discs is provided with cavities or apertures to receive the utensils.
