[Also in Division F4] A washer-extractor has an additive shoot connected to its casing to deliver at least one additive to a foraminous drum at a predetermined time and suspension means which support the washer-extractor and substantially eliminate vibration therefrom. The washer-extractor is supported by stanchions 54 fixed to a base 57 (Fig. 3) and is suspended thereon as shown in Fig. 5 the weight of the washer being supported by an adjustable bolt 97 held by a plate 94a on spring 95a. A snubbing pad 73 which is formed of brake shoe material or the like is held between plates 77 and 83 and causes damping of the oscillations in the springs due to vibration of the load on the washer-extractor, the amount of damping being adjustable by bolts 79. Several of the bolts 97 are provided on each stanchion and are used to level the washer-extractor independently of the base plate and stanchions. Radially disposed weights are fixed in the cabinet and are heavy enough to ensure that any non uniform loading in the washer will not cause excessive vibration of the cabinet. Washing powder or the like is supplied from hoppers 120 (Fig. 6 not shown) which are normally held by support bar 116 in the upright position. At a predetermined signal from a timer device (not shown) a piston operated contact 124 lifts a lever 119 and empties the hopper through an opening 23 into the washing drum. When in its inverted position (shown in broken lines 120 in Fig. 6) water from the rotating drum can enter the hopper 120 and wash out all the remaining soap powder, but this water does not enter any of the drums still remaining in their upright positions.
