Abstract

996,825. Blow moulding bobbin sleeves. FRASER & GLASS Ltd. June 15, 1962 [June 8, 1961], No. 20696/61. Heading B5A. Bobbin sleeves are blow - moulded by extruding a parison of thermoplastics material into a circular mould the diameter of which increases in the direction of extrusion and whose surface has a roughness not exceeding a depth of 50 microns, blowing the parison in the mould and removing the moulding from the mould. A tubular parison 2 is extruded over a blowing nozzle 3 and is enclosed in tapered blow mould halves 4 and blown out. The mould surface roughness may have been effected by sand-blasting or micro-grooving. Alternatively the parison may be extruded into a central one-piece mould 21 there being separable top and bottom mould halves 23, 24 (Fig. 5). In a further embodiment, Fig. 9, the mould 30 may abut an extruder head 31.
