996,568. Cathode-ray tubes. E. K. COLE Ltd. Dec. 20, 1962 [Feb. 15, 1962], No. 5744/62. Heading H1D. A cathode-ray tube deflection coil assembly generally similar to that of Specification 920,187, has its field deflection coils L3, L4 arranged in sections which are wound from alternate sides of the coils and which are separated by layers S1 S2 of metal foil or metallized paper to reduce the intersection capacitances and hence the circulating currents in coils L3, L4 produced by the change of line flux (line-scan ringing). If coils of the above type have two outer sections which are coplanar, e.g. turns of one coil section wound in the spaces between turns of another section, and/or an outer section with less turns than that of a preceding section, then the intersection capacitances may be sufficiently reduced by mounting the metallic layers on the outer surfaces of the coils instead of between the coil sections.
