995,787. Making cigars. ARENCO A.B. May 29, 1964 [Aug. 22, 1963], No. 22399/64. Heading A2C. A tobacco leaf carrier for a cigar or bunch machine which leaf carrier is connected to suction means and means sensing the pressure deviations in the leaf carrier. Two leaf binders 1 and 2 transporting wrappers and binders are connected to suction lines 3 and 4. Sensing means 5 for detecting pressure in the inside of the leaf carrier is connected via a three way valve 6 to a pressure gauge 5 with a membrane to control a switch 9 in parallel with a switch 10 controlled by a cam follower 11 cooperating with a cam plate 12. The cam plate rotates in synchronism with the leaf carrier which moves from the cutting die to the discharge point. The switch opens when the carrier moves from the collecting point and suction is applied when the pressure gauge indicates the absence of a tobacco leaf or a defective leaf, the membrane does not close the switch 9 and the solenoid winding 18 is de-energized. The contact 21 for the motor opens and contact 20 for the indicator 23 may be optical or acoustic.
