Abstract

A polyolefin is stabilized with a composition comprising (a) an aromatic ester of an o-hydroxyaromatic acid, (b) a diester of thiodiglycollic or b ,b 1-thiodipropionic acid, and optionally (c) a phenolic antioxidant having at least 2 phenolic nuclei (e.g. the condensates of 3 mols. of 3-Me-6-t-Bu- (or octyl-) phenol with 1 mol. of crotonaldehyde or cinnamaldehyde). Preferred stabilizer components are: (a) the salicylates, gentisates, cresotates and b -resorcylates of phenolic compounds, (b) dilauryl, dicetyl and distearyl b ,b 1-thiodipropionate, and (c) spirohydrindenes, spirochromans, alkylidene bisphenols, thiobisphenols and the condensates specified above.
