Abstract

993,884. Device for vaporizing liquids. FRAGRANCE PROCESS CO. Inc. March 8, 1962 [March 14, 1961], No. 9039/62. Heading A5G. A device for vaporizing a controlled quantity of liquid comprises a reservoir containing such liquid, a beaded chain, means adapted to advance the chain at a controlled rate through the reservoir so that the chain traps liquid between adjacent beads, and a heating element effecting controlled vaporization of the liquid delivered to said element by the chain. The Figure illustrates a transverse section of a device according to a preferred embodiment of the invention. The reservoir 50 is provided with a threaded opening in which is positioned a container or bottle 56 filled with a vaporizable liquid 58 which is advantageously a scented liquid, which liquid also fills the interior of the reservoir. The beaded chain 72 is trained to pass over the heating element 76, in the form of an incandescent bulb, the element being surrounded by a deflector plate 78 which deflects droplets 82 of the liquid into a vaporizing pan 80. The speed of the chain is controlled by a motor which drives the sprocket wheel 38, the motor being regulated by means of the timing control knob 44.
