Abstract

Cereal plants are treated by spraying or dusting with a tocopherol as an aqueous or powdered dispersion in an amount of 3-500 parts per million parts of dispersion. The tocopherol may be da (natural Vitamin E), d, la , or d, lg tocopherol and may be employed as such or as acetate or phosphate. An aqueous dispersion may contain a non-ionic emulsifier, e.g. polyoxyethylene stearate, oleate, or sorbitan laurate; or polyoxyethylene oleyl or polyoxypropylene ether. A powdered dispersion may contain talc, silicic acid, or calcium phosphate.
