Abstract

991,190. Toe lasting machines. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO. Ltd. May 22, 1962 [May 23, 1961], No. 19587/62. Heading A3B. A toe lasting machine-for example of the type described in Specification 882,748 -has a last support comprising a toe rest 10 mounted on a frame 12 of the machine, and a last pin 26 on a block 24 which is pivotally mounted on a supporting member 22, pivotally carried on carriage 20 which is slidable towards the toe rest on a bracket 16, which is pivotally mounted on the frame, the arrangement being such that when the supporting member 22 is moved in a direction to force an abutment 34 against the block 24 the pin 26 swings to carry the toe end of the shoe against the toe rest 10. The supporting member is swung about its pivot by a compressed air cylinder 44. The block 24 is spring pressed against the abutment 34.
