Abstract
988,202. Continuous casting. CONCAST A.G. May 23, 1963 [May 29, 1962], No. 20590/63. Heading B3F. A mould for continuous casting comprises side and end wall elements 6, 7 and 3, 3a respectively which carry mould plates 2, 2a and 8, 8a defining the mould cavity 1. The plates 8, 8a are gripped between the plates 2 and 2a by pressure from adjusting screws 22 and 23 which are secured to beams 18 to 21 on each side of the mould. The beams are held together by screws 14 to 17 which have resilient means 26 to prevent overloading. The clamping screws also carry holding means 12, 13 for adjusting screws 10 and 11 for the end elements 3, 3a carrying the mould end plates 8, 8a. The mould construction described permits castings of different cross-sections to be produced without changing the mould structure. Cooling means for the mould is provided by cavities 24a in the plates for the passage of water. Figs. 3 and 4 show alternative mould adjusting means in the form of fluid actuated pistons and cylinders. The embodiment in Fig. 4 incorporates intermediate plates to permit the production of more than one cast from a common mould structure.
