A cleaning composition for removing lapping compositions from metals, comprises (parts by weight) 37-93 of trisodium phosphate, 3-43 of sodium or potassium dichromate, 0.6-10 of ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid, and 0.6-10 of polyoxyethylene tridecyl alcohol (non-ionic wetting agent).
