2,4 - Diamino - 6 - hydroxy - pteridine or an acid addition salt thereof is made by reacting 2,4,5,6 - tetra-aminopyridine or an acid addition salt thereof with free glyoxylic acid in the presence of dilute mineral acid, i.e. below 6N. Specification 987,916 is referred to.
