986,688. Building slabs and slab walls. R. M. ELGENSTIERNA. April 17, 1962 [April 19, 1961], No. 14816/62. Headings E1B and E1V. In a wall slab comprising a facing layer 1 of jointed bricks 2, an intermediate insulating layer 8 of mineral wool, foamed plastic, or fibrous material, and a backing layer 11 of bricks 9 or concrete, the layers 1 and 11 are secured together by reinforcing lattices 7 embedded in grooves or mortar bonds in the layers. A layer 10 of gypsum may be provided and edge grooves 5 provide mortar grooves between adjacent slabs. The layer 9 may not extend the complete length of the wall slab, so as to provide a recess for a beam &c., and ears may be provided on the reinforcement for lifting. The slab is formed by superimposing the layers horizontally in a jig as described in Specification 986,687, or by connecting the preformed layers 1, 11 and then inserting the insulating material. In a wall, when pouring mortar between slabs, the joint may be temporarily sealed by an elastic strip.
