Abstract
986,629. Elevated railways. SAFEGETRANSPORT. Aug. 1, 1963 [Oct. 31, 1962], No. 30608/63. Heading B7L. An elevated railway has tracks 2, 3, Figs. 3, 5, each comprising slotted tubular beams of assembled concrete sections; each section consists of a concrete shell 13 with reinforcing ribs 19, 21 and the edges of the slot constitute reinforced beads 14 supporting track runways 15, the sections being post-strained by cables 23 in passages 22 and cables 25 and being reinforced by elements 24, 26, Figs. 7, 8. Runways 16 for guide wheels 11 are mounted on the sides of shell 13. Two tracks, Fig. 3, are carried by brackets 4 on posts 5. Each shell carries current supply lines, signal lines &c. as at 12, Fig. 5. The stiffening ribs may be internal of the shell, and the runways 15 may be mounted on members 28 attached to pins 42, Fig. 13, carried by a U-section iron 41 welded at 39, 40 to oblique reinforcing irons 37, 38; the members 28 are slotted for vertical adjustment and are clamped between plates 47, 48 of a plastics material by nuts 44, 45. Adjoining tubular sections 53, 54, Fig. 15, are connected together by cables 58 anchored at 59, 60 on stiffening ribs 27, the cables 57 of each section are not connected and extend along passages in each section; the sections have abutments 63. Some sections are spaced slightly apart in brackets 4 to form expansion joints, Fig. 16 (not shown). Specifications 741,830, 918,203 and 930,435 are referred to.
