Abstract

[Also in Divisions B5 and F1] Misalignment between the rotor of a blower or pump and a shaft 364, Fig. 23, may be accommodated by a flexible membrane which, as shown, may be integral with a supporting disc 363 of the rotor. In an alternative arrange - ment, a tension spring 369 embracing a shaft 308 with a frictional fit and engaging a groove 370 on the rotor presses the pointed end of the shaft against a conical recess 367. The spring transmits the driving torque to the rotor. In a further alternative, Fig. 24, a shaft 373 is centred in the end disc of a rotor by means of a rubber ring 372. The torque is transmitted by a spring 377 which embraces the shaft and engages slots 376 in a ring 375. Specifications 876,611 and 876,618 are referred to.
