Abstract

986,142. Water aerator. E. P. AGHNIDES. Jan. 15, 1962, No. 1376/62. Heading B1C. An expendable aerator for threaded attachment to a water-tap comprises a one-piece moulded casing having a diaphragm 10 integral with a threaded depending skirt 15; the diaphragm is perforated to form chambers 11 stepped as at 24 and having restricted entrances formed by overlying projections 24 as described in Specification 872,787. The skirt 15 has internal ribs 16 frictionally supporting an inner sleeve 17 in which a flat mesh screen 20 and an inverted cup-shaped screen 18 are maintained in position by peg 19 and rim 21. In operation air is aspirated through the annular space between the sleeves. In another embodiment, Fig. 3, there is an air inlet 45 in the tap 46 and the screens 50, 51 are supported by a peg having its bottom end 49 flattened by heat. The inner sleeve may be dispensed with (see Figs. 4, 5 and 6, not shown) and the device may screw on to the outside of the tap (see Figs. 5 and 6, not shown). The rim 23 may be knurled, Fig. 1, or there may be recesses 53, Fig. 3, to receive a key or coin. Specification 685,463 also is referred to.
