985,776. Boundary layer control. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 11, 1962 [April 14, 1961], No. 13531/61. Heading F2R. [Also in Division F1] In an inlet passage of a rotary gas blower or compressor (see Division F1) a by-pass 4 creates at its downstream end, due to a reduction in cross-sectional area thereat, a low pressure. The by-pass thus bleeds off a quantity of gas and dispenses it near the top of blades 3 and thereby controls the boundary layer at the convex surface of the gas passage.
