Abstract

985,272. Root-crop harvesters. J. D. DYSON, and C. R. DYSON. June 29, 1962 [June 30, 1961], No. 23751/61. Heading A1F. A beet harvester comprises a pair of power-driven lifting wheels 2 which lift beet on to a transversely moving conveyer 14. A pair of skeith wheels clear debris from the path of the lifting wheels. The angle of the axes about which the lifting wheels rotate and the speed of rotation of the wheels may be varied. The wheels may have notches or attachments on their rims. A rotary spinner may be used to dislodge the beet from the wheels. The conveyer may extend behind more than one lifting unit and rises upwardly towards one side of the machine. According to the Provisional Specification the lifting wheels may be replaced by rotating cones or by two sets of shares carried by two sets of arms extending radially from hubs.
