Abstract

984,140. Endless track vehicles. HILGERS A.G. Jan. 26, 1962 [Jan. 26, 1961], No. 3142/62. Heading B7H. A bridge inspection carriage 1 comprises two bearers 2, 3a each having a pair of sprockets about which an endless track 5, 5a passes and a pair of vertical pins 10 supporting guide wheels 11. A further bearer 3 is mounted on carriage 1, and accommodates pin 6 of bearer 3a and has two pins 8 which enter holes in bearer 3a to allow relative horizontal movement between the tracks 5, 5a. Springs 9 on the pins 8 maintain the guide wheels 11, which may have rubber or plastic tyres, against the side faces 14 of bridge members 12. The track elements 15 (Fig. 3) have fixed or detachable rubber or plastic shoes or coverings 16 and for use on curved bridges the track pitch may be greater on one side than the other.
