983,551. Mine roof supports. K. M. GROETSCHEL. March 15, 1961 [April 1, 1960; June 11, 1960; July 28, 1960], No. 9537/61. Heading E1E. Cantilever extensions (not shown) are locked to articulated roof bars 1, 4, Fig. 2, by elements 2, 2<SP>1</SP> displaced by a jack 6, 7, 7<SP>1</SP> arranged as shown, by jacks 6<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>11</SP> acting on projections 8<SP>1</SP> or 8 or by a jack 6 acting through the linkage shown in chain lines or Fig. 4 (not shown). In a modification the projections 8 are coupled to a single jack or a jack provided with two plungers, see Figs. 3 and 5 (not shown), respectively. In another modification, Fig. 6, the cantilever extensions 3 are spaced apart by a centre piece 17 and are locked to the roof bars 1, 4 by a jack 6, 7, 7<SP>1</SP> acting through a linkage 2, 12. In a further modification, Fig. 9, the bar 42 incorporates a telescopic extension 44 which is advanced by a plunger 43 and locked to a pivoted advance bar 49 by a wedge 51 pivoted to a jack 52 or 52<SP>1</SP>, the wedge acting through the medium of a rider element 55 or roller, see Fig. 11 (not shown). Further minor modifications of the above embodiments are given for which Figs. 7, 8, 12 and 13, (not shown), should be referred to.
