982,457. Non-automatic adjustment of brakes. FABBRICA ITALIANA MAGNETI MARELLI S.p.A. Dec. 31, 1962 [Jan. 2, 1962], No. 48999/62. Heading F2E. A device for adjusting the angular position of an actuating cam of a drum brake comprises a worm 22 and worm-wheel 18 associated with a brake operating lever 10, the worm 22 and the actuating cam being mounted on a common shaft 20. The worm 22 is provided with a polygonal head 26 connected to the core of the worm through an annular grooved section 32 and engaged by an opening 40 in one end of a flexible flat spring 38 which is secured to the lever. When the worm is to be rotated by a suitable actuating key to adjust the angular position of the actuating cam the spring 38 is automatically disengaged from the polygonal head by the key and its opening is brought into the grooved section of the worm so as to permit rotation thereof.
