Abstract

982,347. Bearings. CRANE Ltd. Jan. 2, 1963 [April 26, 1962], No. 256/63. Heading F2A. A bearing member is formed of synthetic polymeric amide mating with another member of synthetic plastics tetrafluoroethylene polymer. The members are preferably formed of calendered sheet and the tetrafluoroethylene is reinforced with ceramic fibre and filled with molybdenum disulphide. In a thrust bearing, a nylon washer 2 is held in frictional engagement with a collar member 1 and a tetrafluoroethylene washer 3 rotates with a thrust collar 5 of shaft 4. A plain shaft, slide or cone bearing may also be similarly formed from calendered sheet.
