Abstract

A herbicidal composition comprises 3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl) - 1 - methoxy - 1 - methyl urea and a surfactant present in an amount of 0.5 to 5 parts by weight per part by weight of the urea derivative. The surfactant may be non-ionic, anionic or cationic, e.g. alkylaryl polyether alcohols, poloxyethylene sorbitol and sorbitan fatty acid esters coreacted with ureas, polyethylene glycol fatty acid esters and fatty alkyl amide condensates, alkyl aryl sulphonates, fatty alcohol sulphates, dialkyl esters of sodium sulphosuccinate, fatty acid esters of sodium isothionate, poloxyethylene thioethers and quaternary ammonium chlorides of 13 to 26 carbon atoms. The compositions may be in the form of wettable powders, emulsifiable oils, emulsions and aqueous dispersions. The compositions may contain dispersing agents, e.g. polyvinyl alcohol, methyl cellulose, gum arabic, sodium alkyl naphthalene sulphonates, polymerized sodium or potassium salts of alkyl aryl sulphonic acids and purified partially desulphonated sodium lignin sulphonate; and herbicidal oils.
