Abstract

982,296. Furnaces. GULF OIL (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd. Feb. 24, 1961 [May 2, 1960], No. 6829/61. Headings F4B and F4T. A burner 10 discharges burning gaseous or atomized liquid fuel into the open end of a curved perforated duct 80. The perforated duct may be spiral or helical or circular as shown and it may be of constant or tapering crosssection. A second burner may discharge tangentially into the duct 80 at a point diametrically opposite the first burner. In another embodiment two burners discharge in opposite directions at the same point of a circular perforated duct. The perforations may be omitted from the outer side of the duct. Two parallel side-by-side burners may discharge into a perforated tube of oval cross-section. The perforated duct may comprise a plurality of straight ducts joined at angles to each other.
