Heading D1D Drafting-apparatus comprises an arm 4 and holders 6, 15 respectively for a top roll 9 and a journal of a clearer roll 12, with common means, e.g. a nut and bolt 17, 17<SP>1</SP> for securing both holders to the arm, the arrangement allowing the holder 15 to be adjusted relatively to the holder 6 according to the inclination of the drafting-field. The arm and the holders are of U-shape, with holder 6 arranged inside and the holder 15 outside the limbs of the arm. For adjustment of the holder 6 relatively to the arm 4 the web of the latter has a slot or two or more holes through which the bolt passes and to adjust the holder 15 relative to the holder 6, the bolt also passes through a calibrated slot or, as shown, through one of two holes 18 in the web of the holder 15. The arrangement shown is suitable for a drafting-field inclined at 30 degrees, when the bolt is put through the other hole the drafting- field may be inclined at 60 degrees and a larger clearer roll 12 is employed (Fig. 3, not shown). A locking washer 19 is interposed: this has a downturned edge which extends over the edge of the holder 15 or of the second hole. The holder 6 has a loading-spring 8 and a guide arm 7 for the associated roll; the limbs of the holder 15 have elongated slabs with integral or spring-fitted guides 14<SP>11</SP>. Each slot receives one journal of a clearer roll (Fig. 5 not shown) and each holder 6 carries the neck of a twin pair of rollers; consequently, each clearer extends over two top rolls with its journals received in slobs facing one another in holders 15 on two adjacent arms.
