Abstract

980,302. Chain conveyers. DEMAG-ZUG G.m.b.H. May 14, 1963 [May 16, 1962], No. 19169/63. Heading B8A. A ball-jointed conveyer chain consists of links in the form of rods with a ball or socket at each end, each link being longitudinally divided and the two halves 1, 2 held together by non-threaded retainers 6 such as spring clips (Fig. 1) or sliding sleeves (Fig. 3). The links may also be divided laterally, as in Fig. 4, and the two halves 14a, 14b held together by a clamp 15. This clamp may incorporate a suspension element 16 for hanging the chain from an overhead guide 18 and also a load-carrying attachment 19. The suspension element 16 may itself be a link constructed in the same manner as the chain links. The means for holding the two link halves 1, 2 together may include a resilient clamp 27, Fig. 8, to which a suspension rod 28 may be attached. The simple socket members shown may be modified to include detachable part-spherical bearing inserts 22 (Fig. 6, not shown).
