Abstract

In centrifugal apparatus including a control circuit which automatically monitors the filling of the centrifuge and which automatically applies a signal to a material-feeding device to reduce, to a predetermined extent, the rate of feed prior to the completion of filling, the moment chosen for the application of the signal is made to depend on the speed of the centrifuge. In the preferred embodiment, such dependence is effected by coupling a tachometric machine to the centrifuge or its drive, and using the voltage thus generated to energize the primary ("speed-measuring") relay of the control circuit. Alternatively, the moment chosen for the application of the signal may be merely a predetermined period after commencement of feeding or of starting-up of the centrifuge, or may depend on the setting of the feeding device. There may be a continuous reduction of the feed rate or a succession of separate reductions.
