Abstract
978,008. Pipe couplings. HAZELOCK Ltd. Oct. 14, 1963 [Oct. 19, 1962], No. 39744/G2. Heading F2G. A fitting for attachment to a rigid tube 10 comprises a rigid sleeve 1 having an elastic O - ring 13 accommodated in an internal circumferential recess and an external screw-thread 11 at one end, a nut 2 having an internal thread at one end to fit the thread 11 and a converging conical face internally at its other end, also an annular locking ring 4 adapted to be compressed between the coned face of the nut and the tube 10 to provide a mechanical lock on the tube. The ring 4 may be an annular coiled spring or a rubber 0-ring. The sleeve 1 and nut 2 are of moulded plastic. Instead of having the externallyscrewed spigot shown in the Figure, the sleeve 1 may be screwed externally at both ends as at 11 to receive a second nut 2 and ring 4 for joining two pipes (Fig. 1, not shown).
