Abstract

977,289. Vechicle frames; battery-electric vehicles. RANSOMES SIMS & JEFFERIES Ltd. Sept. 26, 1963 [June 26, 1962], No. 24511/62. Headings B7D and B7H. The frame of battery-driven fork lift truck comprises longitudinal and transverse members 4, 11, 23, 48, which define the upright sides of a transverse row of compartments between and at the level of the front and rear wheels. The central compartment houses a motor which is mounted on brackets 8 secured to the front ends of the members 4 and the lateral compartments are further defined by the lower portions of front mudguards 18, floor plates 24 and doors hinged at their lower edges to the floor plates and with releasable catches which engage lugs 41, 42. The left and right-hand compartments respectively house drive motor-speed control gear and an hydraulic pump mounted on the insides of the doors. The frame further comprises side longitudinal plates 14, 44 joined by transverse plates 21, 23 and 47, 48 to and extending above frame members 4. A battery compartment is provided between the rear portions of the plates 14, 44 above members 4 and main and auxiliary ballast weights are mounted on lug 13 and brackets 12. An hydraulic liquid tank 26 of L-shape in plan is formed above the hydraulic pump and is banded by side plate 14, front mudguard 18 and its vertical extension 28 and plates 31, 33, 32 and 29 and has a cover 34 with a filler 37 and inspection plate 36 and an inlet 38 from the hydraulic pump discharging through pipe 39 at the bottom of the tank.
