977,054. Door hinges. F. F. VON SOIRON, and G. F. VON SOIRON, [trading as PRAMETA PRAZISIONSMETALL - U KUNSTSTOFFERZEUGNISSE G. BAUMANN & CO.]. Aug. 6, 1963 [Aug. 6, 1962], No. 31056/63. Heading E2F. A hinge for connecting a door 5 to a frame 1 comprises (see Figs. 1 and 2) a block 3 which is secured to a stud 2 screwed into the frame and which is pivotally connected by a pin 6 to a U-section hinge member 4 attached to the door. The block 3 is attached to the stud 2 by a grubscrew 9 engaging an annular slot 8 in the stud. The member 4 is secured to the door 5 by a wood screw 13 and a projection 15. In a modification, Fig. 6, opening movement of the door is limited to 90 degrees by a link 17 pivoted to a pin 18 in the block 3 and carrying a pin 20 engaging a slot 21 in one or both of the limbs of the member 4. In a further modification, Fig. 11, extensions 5a and 22a on the door and hinge member limit opening movement of the door by engagement with the block 3. As shown in Fig. 14 the block 3 may be provided with insert plates 23 of flexible synthetic plastic material containing molybdenum sulphite or graphite glued in recesses 24 to give smooth pivoting movement. In a further modification, Figs. 15 and 16 (not shown), the U-shaped hinge member has a triangular flange fixed to its bridge for attachment to the inside of the door by three screws, one of which engages a slot in the flange. The hinge parts 3 and 4 may be formed as zinc castings.
