Abstract

L-Homoserine is prepared by culturing at 24 DEG to 37 DEG C. and a pH of 5.0 to 8.5 a strain of micro-organism which requires L-threonine but not also methianine, crystathianine or homocysterine for growth in a culture medium comprising L-threonine or materials containing L-threonine. Preferred micro-organisms are Micrococcus glutamicus ATCC. Nos. 14296 and 14297. Biotin may also be added to the fermentation medium.
