Abstract

[Also in Division G1] A material container 3 is pivotally mounted so as to be loadable without substantial breakage of material, the inclination to the horizontal of the wall 21 of the container on to which the loaded material impinges being variable during the loading from an initial position in which the material moves down the wall and is brought to rest within the container to a final position in which the material is freely dischargeable from the container. As shown in a mine skiploading system, the container 3 is fed by a belt 20 and shoot 5 and turned about its pivot 7 during loading by a continuously operated winch 8 in accordance with the rate of feed, the initial and final positions being shown in broken and full lines respectively. The pivot 7 and winch 8 rest on load cells which meter the weight of the load and control the closure of feed gate 14. The attainment of its final position by container 3 opens discharge flap 16 and the skip 2 to be charged controls the opening of door 15. The skip is unloaded at the top of its shaft by means (Fig. 2, not shown) incorporating a second container 3 where mounting is as shown but omitting the load cells.
