Abstract

975,009. Imitation fires. H. FROST & CO. Ltd. April 26, 1963 [July 19, 1962], No. 27729/62. Heading F4W. An electric heater includes, in combination with a lamp and flicker producing means, one or more concave reflectors of trough form and a translucent viewing screen, the reflector or reflectors being disposed vertically on end and located so as to reflect forwards the light from the lamp and flicker-producing means, and the translucent screen being disposed in front of the reflector or reflectors. An electric fire comprises a heating element 1 with a horizontal heat reflector 2 below imitation fuel 3. Red or orange coloured lamps 4, create hot air currents to rotate apertured spinners 6. The flickering light is reflected by a reflector 8 through a translucent viewing screen 15, which may be as described in Specification 957,591. The reflector 8 may be in several integral sections 8a as shown, or may be a single concave reflector. The sections may be separately formed and connected together at their adjacent edges. The sections may be arranged in an arc about a single lamp and flicker-producing device. The concave reflector or reflectors may have vertical corrugations therein.
