974,728. Cleaning bottles. B. O. MORRIS Ltd. Oct. 26, 1963, No. 42313/63. Heading B8T. [Also in Division F2] A device for detaching incrustation from the interior of a narrow-necked metal bottle comprises a shaft 10 insertable through the bottle neck having flails 21 attached to it which fly out centrifugally when the shaft is both rotated 'and reciprocated. Longitudinal slots 17 are provided in the shaft walls, the flails having hard tip members 22 and being of such length and width that they lie wholly within the shaft, when the latter is not being driven, to facilitate passing the device into the bottle neck. Each flail is pivotally supported from a plug 18 held in the shaft by a pin 19. Each plug may have a bifurcated end in which an end of the flail is held by a through pin 20. The insertable end of the shaft may be bifurcated and support an additional flail. The shaft is guided through a threaded sleeve 13 attached to the bottle neck.
