974,315. Curtain rods. B. ROSE. July 22, 1963 [Aug. 7, 1962], No. 30173/62. Heading A4B. Means for powering a curtain-supporting bar 4 for access comprises channel section guides 1, attached to the side members 2 of a window frame, and a control bar 8 having its ends slidable in the channels and releasably lockable in the lower ends thereof by bolts 11, the bars 4 and 8 being interconnected by plastic-covered cords or wires 5 which pass over pulleys 6 fixed to a part 7 of the window. The pulleys have extensions 13 which limit the raising of the bar 4 by depressing the bar 8, tongues 10 at the ends of the bar, in limit position, being pressed into recesses 9 in the lower ends of the channels for retention by the bolts 11 which are released through the inwardly facing open sides of the channels or through apertures 12. Upward movement of the bar 8 is limited by stops 3 or the closed upper ends of the channels. In a modification the bolts are replaced by spring- urged ball catches in the window frame engaging recesses in the bar 8.
