Abstract

973,972. Tyre building machines. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. March 28, 1961 [April 5, 1960], No. 11213/61. Heading B7C. [Also in Divisions B6, B8 and G3] A tyre building machine is provided with a device 42 which automatically positions a length of tread material symmetrically with respect to the mid-circumferential plane of a tyre building former prior to and during its assembly upon the former (see Division G3). As shown, a length of tread material 41 is supported on a roller conveyer 30 which feeds the material to a tyre building former 44. In a second embodiment, Fig. 7, lengths 41 of tread material with interleaving material 88 are arranged in layers inside a stillage 85. When the material 88 is wound on to a drum 90 the lengths 41 are fed over a conveyer 85b to the former 44a. The stillage 85 is mounted for transverse movement on a frame 85c and the positioning of the tread is controlled by the device 42 as in the first embodiment.
