In sight glass mountings the glass tube 8 is held in position within an apertured tube 1 by ferrules 4 screwed into the ends of the tube 1 and engaging the ends of the tube 8. The ferrules 4 are held in position by lock-nuts 7 and are provided on their ends remote from the tube 1 with threads for engagement with pipes.
